Can't get started with v2.90 install

user-541

Hello,

Undoubtedly user error, so any advice welcome. I read all the update release notes, but am still unsure where I'm going wrong. I've been using get_iplayer v2.86, and I've read about many of the changes made from 2.86 to 2.87, and then 2.89-2.90, but I can't figure out where to start on upgrading to the current 2.90.

I've tried downloading from links within the various release notes only to get a "oops, page not found" error, and I can't figure out if this link: https://github.com/get-iplayer/get_iplay...latest.zip --has actually got the latest installation.

Any help much appreciated. If you can tell me where I can find the 2.90 installation itself, maybe I can figure it out on my own?

As you are here in the OS X forums I'm going to assume you're running OS X. There isn't an installer per se for OS X, though there are options with HOmebrew and MacPorts.

The best guide to get things installed on OS X is probably here:

https://squarepenguin.co.uk/guides/mac-o...all-guide/

You have to just follow it step by step. You don't have to put much thought into why you are downloading the things it tells you to, or why you're using the commands you are being told to (unless you want to that is) and it should get you updated to the latest version. You're effectively installing the latest version over the current one, thereby upgrading it.

Thanks --I'll try again, SP. I was successful the first time around, so I know I can do it. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers : -)

Slow & steady did the trick. Really do appreciate get_iplayer & the brilliant collection of self-support options, and the forums. Thanks : -)
