FORUM RULES
#1
Below is a list of get_iplayer forum rules. This list is not exhaustive and does not include the basics of civilised nettiquette, which should be considered as required at all times.
  1. Support is offered only for the current release version of get_iplayer (see Release Announcements). Do not ask for help with previous versions.
  2. Windows XP and Windows Vista are not supported. Do not ask for help using get_iplayer with either OS.
  3. Don't post about VPS servers, VPNs, proxies or circumventing geo-blocking measures employed by the BBC, and do not ask for help downloading any TV programme or higher-bitrate (>96k) radio programme from outside the UK.
  4. Don't post about VPS servers, VPNs, proxies or circumventing geo-blocking measures employed by the BBC, and do not ask for help downloading any TV programme or higher-bitrate (>96k) radio programme from outside the UK.
  5. Don't ask for help using get_iplayer with a VPN, VPS or proxy, even if you are in the UK.
  6. Create high quality bug reports. See this thread for a guide.
  7. Make pasted code snippets short and WRAP THEM IN CODE TAGS. To do so, select your text and then hit the code button above the input box. Alternatively you can place a backtick at the start and end of the text you wish to display as code.
  8. Do NOT post large blobs of code/terminal output into a post. Save such text into a .txt document and upload it as an attachment to your post. The attach button is available under the post input box in the Preview Post screen.
  9. Do NOT post queries in the macOS forums about installing get_iplayer with Homebrew or installing Homebrew itself. All Homebrew-related issues should be posted in the Homebrew forum: https://discourse.brew.sh
  10. Do NOT post queries about Get iPlayer Automator in the macOS forums. Get iPlayer Automator is a separate application and is NOT supported at this site.
  11. Do not hijack threads. Do not post unless you can offer concrete assistance that is directly related to the thread topic and specifically applicable to the original poster's support request. If you have a different query or another issue to raise, do it in your own thread.
  12. Do not ask for other users to provide you with copies of any programmes, and do not offer any programmes for download.
  13. Do not discuss tools or methods for downloading programmes from non-iPlayer services (ITV, All4, My5, etc.). These forums are for get_iplayer support only.
  14. Do not ask for help with slow download speeds or problems with network connectivity. Neither we nor get_iplayer can help you with such issues in any way.
  15. This is not a discussion forum. If you have a need to discuss politics, the internet, the BBC, the iPlayer service, the UK television licence, audio/video production or any other topic that is not get_iplayer itself, there are other forums for that. If you are not seeking or providing support for a specific get_iplayer issue, do not post here.
  16. Users that violate these rules may receive a ban, and the offending threads and posts may be closed, removed or relocated at the discretion of the administrators.
Thank you.
